Mathew Clifton. Age 31
Mathew Clifton has been recommended as 'Father of the Month' by his eleven year old son Jamal and his eight year old daughter Carmela. Mathew's long term partner died two years ago from breast cancer and he has been left to raise his children by himself.
A daunting task to say the least, however, Mathew says its the determination and courage shown by his two children which has helped him to be strong and hold his family together.
"I guess you never know just how hard it is to be a 'mother' and a 'father' at the same time until life deals you some ugly cards" says Mathew.
Not only is Mathew a single father but he also works as a fulltime mechanic. Between school runs and oily overalls he also finds the time to mentor the children in his area at their local youth club. We asked Jamal and Carmela why they think their dad is a super dad and why he should be chosen as Father Of The Month. They responded in a nut shell by saying "he's the best daddy in the World and he does everything for us".
